Frequently Asked Quesions
1: What is the "Terran Alliance"?
The Terran Alliance is an organization for the discussion and promotion of specific international "laws".
2: What is new in this?
While organizations for international laws are nothing new (World Federalist Association, World Citizenship, etc.), the Terran Alliance takes a far less idealistic, more down-to-earth approach to the concept. Furthermore, the Terran Alliance works without a continuous budget, not only freeing energy from funding, but making participation 100% free.
3: Why the budget-less approach?
The Alliance is set up with no outside hired staff. Apart from making funding unnecesary, it makes many otherwise demanding tasks redundant. The lack of membership fees also makes people less hessitant to participate.
4: How does it work, then?
For the time being, it is not a lobbying group; it simply lacks resources and connections. It is mostly just an investigative project and a debate club for how to implement the results reached.
5: What are its resources?
As stated, minimal. To avoid risking great amounts of money and effort on useless or ill-planned endavours, it was decided to do a fair deal of legwork to build a solid platform to work from.
6: What is that platform?
For now, an information network and a set of standard tools. As stated, connections are few and public knowledge is minimal. Both have to be remedied before any greater goals can be achieved.
7: What "greater goals"?
In essence, public and official support for a very focussed change in international policy. The details are given in this website.
8: So, what can I do?
At this point, simply show your interest. By filling out the Questionaire, you are actually affecting the development of these early stages. If you decide that you would like to get more involved, simply fill out the Application form, and we will contact you.
9: Why should I get involved?
The usual "it is our common Earth" sales-pitch set aside (it is still true, of course), getting "involved" in the Terran Alliance is not a demanding thing. It costs you nothing, you can quit or take a break at any time, and you can actually affect the developing structure a lot. So, why not?
10: Okay, but what's with the name??
"Terra" is the latin name for old Mother Earth. "World", "Global" and "Earth" simply seemed too worn. "Gaia" was considered, but it sounded too weird.
