Philosophy FAQ

1: What, in Terras view, is the major obstruction of change in the world?
Insecurity. Plain and simple. Both those in power and their subjects are scared of what might happen if they try too big a change. Those in power might loose it, and the general populace risks becoming the victim of civil unrest, or just having to adjust to very different circumstances.

2: How can this be overcome?
For those in power, they have to be convinced that the change is backed by a sizable part of those they represent. The populace should be able to understand the change and see, that it will not alter their day-to-day lifes radically.

3: How is this to be accomplished?
First of all, the change is to be minimal and clear; no overly complex system substitutions. The purpose is included in unmistakable words, and the area of influence is as limited as possible. Second, before going directly at those able to implement any change, the rest, supporters as well as opposition of the powers that be, are convinced to show tangible support for the idea. Thus, the change will seem far less risky.

4: How are such petty goals supposed to make a difference?
Firstly, each "petty goal" will have a profound consequence, even if it is not always something, which is obvious for the population at large. Second, each has the twin secondary purposes of making other (pre-planned) changes easier to accomplish, and serving as a symbol of the possibility to accomplish such goals. In short, each petty goal makes the next petty goal easier to reach.

5: What improvements do Terra aim to accomplish?
The aim is to alter the way things are done in the world, so that harming people will not be a political goal or method. Further down the path, the organization aims to create the foundation for global security of a variety of sorts, from security against biowarfare to security against economic collapse. We have no intend of directing laws and policies of any region. We only want to make sure, that people are protected from general harm. Details can be found under Objectives.
